Toward the end of 2023 Mego announced they had acquired the license to produce Marvel Comics characters again. Over a year later a 4-pack of Spider-Man characters was released exclusively through the online Disney store and Avengers Reserve stores (found only in Disney themed parks). The online availability lasted one day and was never restocked. Since then, the only way to purchase this set was through second hand dealers (who routinely sold sets in the $150.00 range) or to visit an Avengers Reserve store in either Disneyland or Disney World. I got lucky because Jordyn visited Disneyland in April 2025 to check out Disneyland After Dark - Star Wars Nite, so I asked her to stop in at the Avengers Reserve store in Downtown Disney to see if she could pick up a couple of sets for me. She came through as she always does and went so far as to check the condition of each set to find the best ones for me. By the way, the sets retail for $89.99 and are limited to two sets per customer. There are four more Marvel 4-packs scheduled to arrive starting in 2025 all exclusive to Disney.

Mego's license agreement with Marvel included a number of releases to be made available exclusively through Disney theme parks, stores, and e-commerce sites. The second release through this agreement was the Fantastic Four. This set dropped about 2 weeks prior to the premiere of the MCU movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Similar to the release of the Spider-Man 4-pack last year, the Fantastic Four set sold out online within minutes, and the only other way to purchase it was at a retail location in either Disneyland or Disney World. Luckily, a few months after its initial release, the Disney website resolicited the set unannounced. Ran happened to make a quick search that day and was shocked to see it available again online. He purchased it as soon as he could not knowing if it would go out of stock while he entered his information. He received confirmation the order had been received and would be shipped soon. Less than a week later the set arrived.

2026

In March of 2026 Disney announced the third Mego Marvel set to be sold exclusively through the Disney online store or Disney theme parks. This set would include Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk - The Avengers. For the first time, strict purchasing limits were maintained when the set dropped on the Disney website. This allowed anyone who visited the site an opportunity to purchase a set, unlike before when everything disappeared in minutes. After a little less than a week the figures were delivered without a scratch, and were still available for purchase online. It appears as if Disney is releasing these Mego Marvel 4-packs once a year. Back in 2023 they announced a total of 5 sets would be released, and so far they've dropped 3. Time will tell what superheroes the next two assortments will include as, with the exception of the Falcon, all the original 1970's characters have been re-released.
