This was the weekend Uncle Derek and Aunty Lara moved many of their large belongings from their Alhambra apartment to their new rental in Las Vegas. They signed a 13-month lease for a three bedroom ranch
style home in a gated community called Rhodes Ranch in southwest Las Vegas. They're only renting to see if this is an area they'd like to remain in. This will give them an opportunity to live in Las Vegas
while, at the same time, check out other neighborhoods to see if they'd prefer something else.
The day started early as Uncle Derek wanted to haul all the big things first before moving many of their smaller belongings later. Grandpa, Dad, and Connor were available so they helped move a refrigerator,
beds, dressers, tables, chairs, etc.. They also had a bunch of their friends help carry things out of the apartment and onto the truck. Uncle Derek was super organized as he already had all of the furniture
he wanted pulled out and ready to load. He also created a diagram on how to position everything inside the truck so they could make efficient use of the space. All his preparation really made the job easier
and prevented any issues.
Everything went pretty smoothly with the move out and the drive to Vegas. The only issue was backing the truck into the driveway at the Las Vegas house. Grandpa's car was parked at the curb just below the
driveway. As Uncle Derek pulled past the car and started to angle the truck into the driveway, he clipped Grandpa's car and yanked off the front bumper. Immediately, they called AAA as they wanted to tow the
car back to L.A. to have it fixed there. It took some doing but they located someone who would be able to tow the car 4 hours from Las Vegas to Los Angeles on a Saturday night. In the meantime, they all began
the task of pulling everything out of the truck and moving it into the house. By dinner time the truck was empty, while the wait for the tow truck to arrive was on-going.
When they all reached home (L.A.) it was pretty late (after 11:00pm). Grandpa left the car outside, and the next morning his neighbor asked what happened. Turns out the neighbor owns a pretty well known
and highly regarded auto body shop. By the end of the day he gave an estimate for the repairs, and by the end of the week the car was completely fixed.

Spa and Shopping July 24-27, 2025
Mom traveled to Las Vegas for her annual spa and shopping trip with Grandma, Aunty Kathy, Aunty Lara, and Uncle Derek. It was slightly different now as Uncle Derek and Aunty Lara live in Vegas. They moved
in mid May the weekend after both boys got out of school. Since Grandma doesn't like to fly anymore, Mom flew to the Ontario airport and they drove from there straight to Las Vegas Thursday morning. Of course,
they had a great time. Deb and Kathy scheduled a two hour massage, then a scalp massage, and finally a day to go shopping at the outlets. In between all that Uncle Derek got them tickets to a Kelly Clarkson
concert at Caesars! Oh, and they drank fruity foo-foo drinks too.
